OREANDA-NEWS. Today, the first KAMAZ-5490 commercial truck has rolled off the assembly line of KAMAZ’s automobile factory. The company started to mass-produce the long-haul tractor which is to become the leader of this segment of KAMAZ production.

KAMAZ-5490 has already been presented to the public at the International Exhibition Comtrans-2013 where it received a positive feedback from both ordinary visitors and potential customers. A distinctive feature of the long-haul tractor is its cab designed on the basis of a Mercedes-Benz cab from the Axor line. Its modern design and streamlined shape will significantly improve not only aerodynamic characteristics of the truck, but also its usability. The interior was also greatly changed. There are two berths as comfortable and big as home beds behind the driver and passenger seats. The seats are equipped with a pneumatic system to ensure ride comfort. Besides, the vehicle features many electronic systems for easier operation. In particular, the truck has air conditioning, cruise control ensuring safe driving, electric window lifts and an adjustable steering column which enables the driver to adjust the steering wheel position to suit his convenience. The high roof allows of placing several storage shelves on the panel above the windscreen. These improvements should increase comfort in the cabin of the new KAMAZ truck. The designers of the truck focused on enhanced safety. The KAMAZ-5490 features such electronic systems as EBS, ESP and ECAS. The electronic braking system (EBS) helps cut the stopping distance and optimize wheel brake lining wear.

The bolster-type tractor is a significant technological breakthrough of KAMAZ in the production of vehicles for commercial transportation. Thanks to its usability, it can become the best-selling truck both in Russia and abroad.
