OREANDA-NEWS. The Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Opens Majnoon oil field And announce the start of the first commercial production from the field at a rate of 175 thousand barrels/ day.

By the sponsorship of the Iraqi Prime Minister Mr. Noori Al- Malik, the ministry of oil in collaboration with Shell Company (the main operator for Majnoon oil field) celebrated for the start of production from Majnoon oil field, and Mr. Hussain Al-Shahristani the deputy prime minister for energy opened the field, by the presence of the minister of oil Mr. Abdulkareem Liaybi and the executive director for Shell Company.

Mr. Shahristani said in his speech: "I am glad to participate in this day celebration for putting another brick to build Iraq. and here is the Iraqi fortune streaming again from this dear governorate, while in addition to the development of this giant field, there are another field has been developed and there are others will be developed as well as we developed the fields of Rumaila & Zubair and here we are developing the Majnoon & West Qurna fields (phase one), in addition to West Qurna field (Phase two ), which are giant oil fields Not only on the level of Iraq, but at the level of the world ".

Mr. Liaybi also said in his speech: " the opening of Majnoon field celebration will not be the last in the series of creativity, giving & exert in the oil sector, but there are more than one field and more than one exploration & good news as well as there are Iraqi minds that think, eyes that follow-up, hands that build and hearts that love Iraq and wants the best for it ".

Mr. Deiaa Jaffar, the director general of South Oil Company (SOC) was glad for this accomplishment and said: "from Majnoon field, the third biggest field in Iraq, we are pleased to announce the good news to the Iraqi people for the beginning of the commercial production at a rate of 175 thousand barrels/ day, which is a historic special accomplishment that was made by the devoted staff in the National Oil Company in 1973 and finished by the next generations in the ministry of oil with Shell & Petronas companies, to add another accomplishment for the oil production in this year, and by that we could open a new door for giving and goodness to Iraq & the Iraqi people ".

While the executive director of Shell presented a brief about the technical accomplished operations in this field, as well as the community services & other services that was presented by the operating company in the geographic area of the field like, providing jobs, build a training & development center, supply 6 mobile clinics equipped with the latest medical supplies and distributed to Qurna town & the districts of Dair & Thaghr, prepare a literacy program as well as sewing training program for the widows, build football fields as well as the dealing with the global sports clubs to develop the football skills of the youth in the governorate.
