OREANDA-NEWS. Management Board Meeting of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs chaired by President A.N. Shokhin has taken place today, October 9, 2013.

Participating in the event were executives of the leading Russian companies representing key sectors of the RF economy.

World Trade Center Moscow General Director V. Yu. Salamatov made a report at the Meeting where he summed up the results of the first year of the Russian membership in the WTO having presented a detailed analysis of the agricultural and manufactured goods 2012-2013 import dynamics.

V. Yu. Salamatov stressed the need of business development efforts consolidation, the key elements of which are development of business activity, elimination of discrimination of particular goods, obtaining and expansion of Russian goods' access to external markets.

In the interview to radio "Voice of Russia" World Trade Center General Director said that the European Union has become the front runner in terms of protectionist measures, the runners up being USA, India and China:

“In the first turn, these measures are taken with regard to chemical industry, metallurgy, tube-rolling and other industries. Revision of energy adjustments that the EU applies to a large number of our goods will make it possible to eliminate a large number of these 79 identified measures. The task of business is to raise questions, facilitate investigations and prepare the dossiers, whereas government based on the initiative of business will have to take relevant legal action at the World Trade Organization site”.
