Commencement of Operation of NK2 Cogeneration Power Plant in Thailand
OREANDA-NEWS. Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. ("J-POWER") would like to announce that NK2 Cogeneration Power Plant commenced commercial operation as scheduled. NK2 is located in Thailand and has a capacity of 120MW.
NK2 was developed by Gulf JP NK2 Company Limited("GNK2"), a subsidiary of J-POWER (investment ratio:90%). GNK2 will sell 90MW of electric power to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand ("EGAT")for a term of 25 years. The remaining electric powerand steamwill be sold directly to customers in the vicinity, in accordance with the SPP (Small Power Producers) Program.
With the commencement of NK2's operation, J-POWER is now investing in 35 overseas IPP/SPP projects producing a total output of approximately 17,900MW (equity ownership in output is approximately 4,640MW).
By the further additionof the commencement of NK2's commercial operation, all of the seven SPP projects J-POWER has engaged in so far have been accompli shed success fully. Apart from the SPP projects, two IPP projects-Nong Saeng project and U-Thai project-are now under construction along with the schedule of commencing their commercial operation in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
