OREANDA-NEWS. October 09, 2013. CNOOC of China said that it expects to add five LNG import terminals by 2015, doubling its total capacity to 35 -40 mtpa.

The expansion from four terminals currently, with a receiving capacity of 18.7 mtpa, will enable CNOOC to import more LNG to meet strong demand growth in China, Reuters informs.

The company imported nearly 11 million tonnes of LNG in 2012, Reuters cited Zheng Hongtao, a vice president in the trading and marketing branch of CNOOC Gas and Power as saying.

CNOOC’s gas and power unit recently said it has received approval from China’s National Development and Reform Commission for the country’s first FLNG project, which will be located in the port city of Tianjin.
