Ukraine to Support Ship Building
OREANDA-NEWS. October 09, 2013. Chaired by Minister of Industrial Policy of Ukraine Mykhaylo Korolenko a meeting was devoted to considering preparation of top-priority measures directed to support and development of ship building in Ukraine.
The event gathered representatives of Association of ship-builders of Ukraine Ukrsudprom and leading national enterprises.
“The situation in which the national shipyards have found themselves today needs immediate solving. Among the top priority steps in this direction is drawing of credit funds and providing the domestic market with national ships,” Mykhaylo Korolenko explained.
In order to stabilize the situation in ship-building the Ministry of Industrial Policy elaborated two draft laws that envisage measures of regulatory impact, credit support and other effective mechanisms of development of the branch. Presently, respective documents were approved as a basis by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
In the course of talks the participants discussed all possible ways and mechanisms of reducing costs of production of national ship building industry and increasing of production volumes. it was also emphasized expediency to draw investments primarily into the projects of raising energy effectiveness.
The Minister stressed that positive dynamics in ship building would give an effective impetus for the development of a series of adjacent industries – machine-building, mining and smelting industries and others.
Summing up the participants agreed that problem issues must be solved in cluster of all sea industry – shipping, ship repair, fishing and shelf industries.
