University of Tartu Named in World Top 400 List
OREANDA-NEWS. October 09, 2013. The University of Tartu has been ranked in the 351-400 bracket in the annual world's best universities list, compiled by the Times Higher Education World University Ranking.
On this year's list, which was published today, Tartu scored high marks in the “international outlook” and “citations” categories, 43.7 and 46.2 out of a hundred respectively, but fared worse in the other three categories of “teaching” (20.3), “industry income” (30.3) and “research” (21.2).
The top 200 receive individual rankings, while the rest share the honors in their bracket.
Tartu has held the position for three years in a row.
No Latvian or Lithuanian universities feature on the list, while Finland has five entries, headed by the University of Helsinki on 100th place. Only the Lomonosov Moscow State University, on place 226 to 250, features from Estonia's eastern neighbors.
