OREANDA-NEWS. October 08, 2013. In the period of preparation to signing the Association Agreement with the EU the western regions of Ukraine have to become drivers of economic European integration. Minister of Incomes and Fees of Ukraine Olexandr Klymenko announced during a meeting with investors of western Ukraine in Barvinok village of Zakarpattya region.

“Presently, of all the regions of Ukraine just western ones, first of all, Zakarpattya possess experience of long transborder cooperation with the countries of European Union. The local business actively uses such competitive advantage as common border with the EU. In the frames of a free trade area certain diffusion of Ukraine’s economy with the economies of the EU states is inevitable. The western region is the only one where this process is carried out due to objective reasons. Now your experience will be useful for businessmen of the whole country,” the Minister emphasized.

According to him, in western regions an entrepreneur initiative is developing in western areas. In the three regions – Zakarpattya, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv almost 78 thousand enterprises operate. A significant share of them is created with participation of the foreign capital. Only in Zakarpattya region investors from 51 countries are represented.

Olexandr Klymenko assured business structures that efforts of the Government were directed to the development of entrepreneur initiative and increase of investments. In particular, in its work the Ministry of Incomes and Fees focuses on simplifying of procedures of administration of taxes and customs payments, shortening of document circulation, introduction of e-services.

Moreover, the Minister reassured representatives of business structures that for the sake of activization of transborder cooperation with the EU proper conditions respective simplifications of customs procedures are created in order to ensure smooth and comfortable flow of goods and citizens via the border.

In the course of a working visit to Zakarpattya region Minister Olexandr Klymenko also visited Ukrainian-Hungarian border checkpoint Chop-Zahon, where he inspected the process of reconstruction of the Tysa customs point and communicated with citizens who were crossing the border.
