CBA Strengthens Anti Counterfeiting Measures
OREANDA-NEWS. October 08, 2013. The Secure Monde International (Great Britain) held a workshop in the Central Bank within the International Standardization of Monetary Units and Securities Expertise Project. The SMI is the leading company engaged in production technologies and expertise of monetary units.
The workshop was opened by Mr Agshin Valiyev, Executive Director of the Central Bank who told that credibility and attractiveness of the Azerbaijani manat as the legal tender paved the way to its becoming a strong currency on a regional scale amid dynamic growth of the country economy, as well as the banking and payment systems and sustainable macroeconomic stability.
The Azerbaijani manat is exposed to potential risks under such circumstances, which necessitates launch and development of relevant institutional infrastructure to combat money counterfeiting, and broader coordination among related public authorities.
The Central Bank launched the Institutionalization of Money Expertise Project to align expertise of monetary units to international standards and up-to-date best practices to more effectively manage potential risks. The Project implies improvement of the expertise of monetary units and securities, purchase and application of related hi-tech, and creation of relevant staff capacity.
The event was attended by employees of the Central Bank and its Regional Centers, as well as commercial banks and law-enforcement bodies, who were awarded with certificates at the close of the workshop.
