OREANDA-NEWS. More than three thousand students attended the tenth annual Aviation & Transportation Career Expo today, to learn about potential careers in the aviation and transportation fields. Hosted by Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, American Airlines, the Federal Aviation Administration and Tarrant County College, and held at the American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum, the Expo is one of the largest annual educational events in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

“The Aviation Expo provides our next generation of leaders with a chance to visualize a career in aviation or transportation,” said Phil Ritter, DFW’s executive vice president for government and stakeholder affairs. “You can see the smiles and the wonder on the faces of these kids, and we are proud to open their imaginations to the myriad of opportunities that await in the skies and the roadways of the future.”

The Expo features exhibits from vendors across the spectrum of aviation and transportation, including static aircraft displays. Students also can spend time in a flight simulator, learn about the mechanics and science of flight, take part in a social media zone and a treasure hunt, and tour a wide array of information booths from over thirty exhibitors.

DFW Airport, American Airlines, the FAA, and Tarrant County College annually join forces to organize the Aviation Expo, which is open to elementary, junior high and high school students. The Expo is a major element of DFW Airport’s efforts toward educational outreach in the Dallas/Fort Worth community.

In addition to the host exhibits, the Expo featured exhibits from the American Indian Chamber of Commerce, the Aviation Institute of Maintenance, the Civil Air Patrol, Concordia University, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Flying Musicians Association, Frontiers of Flight Museum, Gano Excel USA, The Girl Scouts, Gulfstream, Metro Arlington Xpress (MAX), Mountain View College, National Center for Aerospace & Transportation Technologies (NCATT), The Ninety Nines (International Association of Women Pilots), North American Aerotech Academy, North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association, Professional Women Controllers, the Texas Air National Guard, Texas State Technical College, Veterans Coalition of North Central Texas, the University of Texas at Arlington and the UTA Research Institute, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of the Navy, the U.S. Aviation Academy, and Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County.
