OREANDA-NEWS. October 07, 2013. The Globalization and Inflation in Asia-Pacific Region Seminar co-sponsored by the PBC and BIS was held in Beijing. Governor Zhou Xiaochuan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and Deputy Governor Yi Gang attended the meeting.

The meeting further summarized the experiences and lessons from the recent global financial crisis, and made in-depth discussions on regional repercussions of globalization, inflation expectations as well as the impacts of globalization on monetary policy conduct in the Asia-Pacific region.

Participants spoke highly of the progress China made in its economic development and financial reform. They also pointed out that properly dealing with globalization and inflation is of great significance to sustained economic growth and continued integration into the global economy for the Asia-Pacific countries. In this regard, they put forward useful policy recommendations.

Representatives from the BIS, the IMF, central banks of UK, France, Canada, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines attended the seminar.
