Ukraine Plans to Enlarge Supplies of Grain & Foodstuffs to Georgia
OREANDA-NEWS. October 07, 2013. Ukraine will enlarge an investment partnership with Georgia in agrarian sector. It has to facilitate growing export of the national agricultural production to Georgian market.
resently, the dynamics of export remains positive. And for 8 months Ukraine has increased the supply of agricultural production to Georgia by 22%. These issues were discussed during a meeting of deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Valeriy Davydenko and Agriculture Minister of Georgia Shalva Pipia.
“Georgia remains for Ukraine a strategic partner in agriculture production trade. Annually this dynamics grows. So, for 8 months of the current year Ukraine has exported to Georgia agricultural products to the tune of USD 175 million. It is by 22% more than last year,” Valeriy Davydenko stressed.
Deputy Minister emphasized that this showing can be increased significantly. With this aim Ukraine proposed to the Georgian party to enlarge investment partnership in agrarian sector. Besides, Ukraine plans to increase supplies of national foodstuffs, grain and livestock products to Georgia.
In turn, the Georgian party expressed a proposition to cut barriers in the process of supplies of citrus fruits to Ukraine. The participants of the meeting agreed to stir up signing necessary phyto-sanitary agreements.
“Such active cooperation with Ukraine in agrarian sector is very important for Georgia. As Ukraine remains for Georgia one of the principal partners and food suppliers. That’s why we will facilitate maximally the development of bilateral cooperation,” Shalva Pipia stressed.
It should be noted that earlier Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhniuk announced that Georgia was one of the key sales markets for Ukrainian vegetable products. Moreover, the Government of Georgia addressed Ukraine with a request to purchase food wheat.
