Lebedinsky GOK Confirmed Compliance of Safety System with Standard
OREANDA-NEWS. Lebedinsky GOK (LGOK, part of Metalloinvest) has successfully passed the recertification audit of its health and safety management system for compliance with the international standard OHSAS 18001:2007.
The British Standards Institution (BSI) expert has audited the system and concluded it to be fully operational.
Valery Karpov, the lead auditor at the BSI who conducted the review, said: “The auditor should see that the system is improving and that it reaches every workplace. We now speak the same language and will be looking at how to make further improvements going forward. There is no saturation point to a system like this; it is impossible to create it once and for all. It advances continuously, and the skills of the employees implementing it develop as well.”
The task of the health and safety management system is efficient handling of the potential risks, minimising incidents and accidents in the workplace, communicating health and safety requirements to every worker and ensuring strict adherence to them.
Compliance with the international standard is the proof of LGOK's success in occupational health and safety management across all divisions. At present, LGOK employs over 10,000 people. Ensuring safety at each individual workplace is the number one priority.
LGOK's health and safety management system was certified for compliance with the OHSAS 18001:2007 standard in 2007. The recertification takes place every three years. The next recertification audit will take place in 2016.
