Ukraine, EU to Elaborate Plan to Start Applying of Agreement on FTA
OREANDA-NEWS. October 04, 2013. Authorized Government’s members and representatives of the European Commission will elaborate a phased plan of solving a series of acute issues of trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, so that it could create favorable conditions to start in short terms preliminary applying of the Agreement on association and free trade area between Ukraine and the European Union. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov commissioned to gather Vice Prime Minister Yuriy Boyko and Minister of Economic Development and Trade Ihor Prasolov Ukrainian expert team.
The commission was given by the Chair of Ukrainian Government Mykola Azarov on the outcomes of a meeting with EU Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht which took place at the Cabinet of Ministers today.
A proposition to create a constant expert panel of high level was aired by the Eurocommissioner during the meeting: “Mister Prime Minister, I consider vital to elaborate a step-by-step plan to coordinate a series of important for further cooperation issues. To achieve the goal it is crucial that our team could sit and think together over the ways of solving such issues. It will be a positive sign for the European Union,” Karel De Gucht announced.
He stressed it would create favorable conditions to start preliminary applying of the Agreement on association and free trade area with the EU.
Premier of Ukraine Mykola Azarov noted that Ukrainian party supported the proposal: “We are ready to discuss crucial for the two sides topics. That’s why after the meeting I will commission Vice Prime Minister Yuriy Boyko and Minister of Economic Development and Trade Ihor Prasolov to organize such work from the Ukrainian side and together with you elaborate the plan of solving all necessary questions”.
He expressed hopes that the negotiations would be held on the basis of a compromise.
