OREANDA-NEWS. October 04, 2013. The Government creates a favorable investment climate for the implementation of energy projects in Ukraine. This was started by Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Eduard Stavytskyi during a briefing on the ways of achieving of energy independence at the Building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The Minister is convinced that the most important task for the short term is the signing an Association Agreement with the European Union in which the energy plays one of the key roles. "Today Ukraine successfully cooperates with global companies in the field of hydrocarbons production, which facilitates the introduction of advanced technology and experience, and provides energy security of our country," Eduard Stavytskyi noted.

He reminded about 3 contests for making agreements on production sharing that will be extracted within Oleska area (Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions), Yuzivska area (Donetsk and Kharkiv regions) and the Scythian area of the Black Sea. In particular, the Minister is convinced that cooperation with Shell to be very fruitful, and all the issues required for the signing of the agreement with Chevron for the extraction of unconventional hydrocarbons in the near future will be resolved. "At present, the draft agreement agreed at the session of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council, and the issue will be put into the consideration by the Lviv Regional Council," the Minister said.

In addition, Edward Stavytskyy predicts the signing of agreement on production sharing with a group of companies led by ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Ukraine BV on hydrocarbon production in the Black Sea area within the Scythian area this month.

"All these projects open up broad prospects for Ukraine to meet fully its needs for energy resources. I am convinced that cooperation with our international partners and implementing a program of increasing of energy production will lead us to energy independence," the Minister says.
