Ukraine Offers Japan to Partake in National Projects
OREANDA-NEWS. October 03, 2013. While the Fifth Joint Meeting of the Coordinating Council for Economic Cooperation with Japan under the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and the Committee for Economic Cooperation with Ukraine of Japan Business Federation Keidanren, which was held in Kyiv, sides discussed issues of bilateral economic relations.
Among them are the intensification and diversification of bilateral trade and investment cooperation in the exploration and extraction of natural resources, oil and gas, renewable energy and environmentally friendly technologies, the development of bilateral economic cooperation in various industries.
"One of the most important directions of Ukrainian-Japanese cooperation is the modernization of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, mining and metallurgy and chemical industry, the development of transport infrastructure and logistics of agriculture in Ukraine," Igor Prasolov said.
In particular, the Ukrainian side has proposed the Japanese side to participate in the implementation of several national projects: LNG-terminal; Natural Energy and its components: Biomass, Warm House, Grain of Ukraine; Industrial Parks and its component Technopolis. Ukrainian delegation presented its achievements in the aircraft, including a number of aircraft produced in Ukraine for private and public use. Transportation of super heavy and oversize cargo was offered, and it was considered the possibility of joint participation in the Air Launch space program and Japanese companies’ participation in joint investment projects of production and introduction into service of the world's largest cargo aircraft AN-225.
The Japanese delegation inquires about the measures implemented by the Ukrainian government to improve the business climate in Ukraine.
The parties also agreed to exchange information on conditions for access of products to the markets of both countries, in particular the areas of standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures.
At the end of the meeting a memorandum was sign where the parties had indicated: understanding was reached, including that for the development of trade and investment cooperation between the two countries to prevent the introduction of protectionist measures and to improve the transparency and predictability of the actions of institutions in the field of trade and investment.
