OREANDA-NEWS. On September 28-29, 2013, United Metallurgical Company (CJSC OMK) and Vyksa Steel Works (JSC VSW, Vyksa, Nizhny Novgorod region, a part of OMK) held the Magic of Sciences and Arts second children's festival in Vyksa under the support of the OMK-Uchastie Charity Fund and Vyksa's Department of Education.

The festival attracted about 3,000 children and adults. This year, the number of participants is almost two times more than the previous one. Children and their parents were met by a speaking robot and offered lectures on Math, Physics, Chemistry, as well as scientific shows, popular-science films and brain games with prizes. The festival's program included 13 master classes, a score of lectures, experiments and excursions. The event's participants learnt about the Earth's structure, mysteries of space, electricity, as well as the nature of light, sound and atmosphere pressure, and visited a planetarium.

United Metallurgical Company is implementing a number of educational programs to promote the sciences and professions in the metallurgical industry. OMK assists the development of industry-specific schools and helps in pupils' vocational orientation.
