S-OIL Declares Safety Golden Rules to Pledge Commitment
OREANDA-NEWS. On Oct. 1, S-OIL held a ceremony for declaring the Safety Golden Rules at its Onsan refinery in Ulju-gun, Ulsan City to enhance employees’ sense of safety. S-OIL employees resolved to pursue zero-accident operations and world-class safety.
The ceremony was attended by 350 participants including CEO Nasser Al-Mahasher, S-OIL officers and employees, representatives of 30 or so contractors of the refiner, Choi Sungjun, Head of the Ulsan Regional Ministry of Employment and Labor, and other safety-related people. They declared that they will observe the eight Safety Golden Rules and pledged their strong commitment to the observation thereof. Also, S-OIL signed the Safety Culture Improvement Agreement with its contractors, vowing to pursue cooperation for win-win relations with them by providing relevant technical support and safety training for engineers and field workers.
S-OIL CEO Nasser Al-Mahasher said, “The declaration ceremony for the Safety Golden Rules is to announce inside and outside S-OIL that the most important core value to achieve our sustainable growth is safety.” He added, “This ceremony will set the stage for our officers and employees as well as our contractors to pledge their strong commitment to create a workplace with a world-class safety culture.”
The refiner’s Safety Golden Rules are basic principles that should be complied with to pursue safe operations with zero accidents. The eight rules are to start work after gaining a work permit, to check the shutout of power, and toxic and hazardous substances before starting work, to wear protective gear necessary for the work, to measure the concentration of toxic gases and oxygen, to take measures to prevent falls from high places, to take measures to prevent the collapse of excavations, to stay away from areas under suspended loads, and no smoking in areas other than designated places.
Meanwhile, on the morning of that day, CEO Nasser Al-Mahasher won the Honorary Ulsan Citizen Card from Ulsan City at the Ulsan Citizen Day ceremony held at the Ulsan City Hall. He was awarded in appreciation of revitalizing the local economy, conducting various CSR activities for underprivileged people, and contributing to the development of the local culture, e.g. by sponsoring the restoration of the Taehwa Pavilion.
