OREANDA-NEWS. October 01, 2013. MasterCard Worldwide presented the MasterCard UEFA Champions League Campaign with the support of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan to develop cashless payments in the country, and stimulate cardholders to maintain cashless payments.

Mr Alim Guliyev, First Deputy Governor of the CBA, opening the event, welcomed the event participants and thanked the regional management of the MasterCard Worldwide for the work done and joint collaboration on the development of our country’s card market. He mentioned that, the complex measures by the Central Bank will positively affect alignment of cashless settlements to the level of advanced countries with an eye to implement assignments by the country leadership to boost the volume of cashless settlements, as well as broaden overall cashless payments in the country.

Mr Mete Guney, MasterCard SEE Region General Manager, briefed the participants on the mission and performance of MasterCard Worldiwde. Mr Hakan Acar, Country Director, SEE Emerging Markets, expressed his gratitude to the CBA for the close cooperation, which made possible the MasterCard Champions League Campaign. We will continue to invest in the financial ecosystem of the country with our safe simple smart solutions. Also we will keep supporting cash replacements projects managed by Central Bank and other governmental organizations in Azerbaijan, he said.

To note, the lottery will be held from 01 to 31 October 2013 at all sales points where MasterCard and Maestro cardholders in the Republic of Azerbaijan will make payments through POS terminals or Internet (electronic commerce) for domestic and international sales by using plastic cards and win the chance to watch live the UEFA Champions League match in Turkey. Prize packs for 3 winners to be announced in November will each include 2 tickets (1 for the winner and 1 for the winners’ child or friend) to UEFA Champions League match in Turkey, 1 night hotel accommodation for 2 people, 2 return air tickets from Baku to Istanbul, as well as airport-city-airport transfer expenses.
