OREANDA-NEWS. September 27, 2013. Sberbank CIB, the corporate and investment banking unit of Sberbank of Russia, is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicholas (Nick) Harwood as Head of Equity, Managing Director, in its Global Markets Department. Nick will join in October 2013 and will be based in Moscow, reporting to Maxim Safonov, Head of Global Markets Department, Managing Director.

Nick joins Sberbank CIB from UBS Securities, where he held the position of Head of Equities for Russia & CIS. He brings over two decades of experience in emerging market equities, based in Moscow, London, New York and Johannesburg. Prior to joining UBS, Nick spent three years – from 2008 till 2011 – as Deputy Head of Global Markets, Global Head of Equity Sales, Managing Director, at Troika Dialog, where he was responsible for a range of products including equities, futures, options, fixed income, currencies and rates. Previously, from 2001 Nick was with Citigroup holding the position of Head of CEEMEA Equities at Citigroup Global Markets, based both in London and Johannesburg. He was also South African country head for Citigroup’s Global Markets business.

This appointment is the latest in a number of senior hires at Sberbank CIB this year, with a particular focus on the Global Markets Department. Its team has recently added a number of Managing Directors including Sascha Prinz as Head of Rates, Francois Mantion as Head of Commodity Trading, Raymond Bird as Head of Strategic Equity Financing, GM Trading and Steven Weller as Head of FX Trading.
