Belarus Takes Measures to Prevent Moldovan Alcohol Re-Export to Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. Belarusian Deputy Healthcare Minister, Chief Medical Officer of Belarus Igor Gayevsky has authorized a set of measures to prevent the re-export of Moldovan alcohol products to Russia and to step up control and oversight over the turnover of Moldovan alcohol products, including at the border with Russia, representatives of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry told.
Acting upon information provided by the Russian federal agency for protecting consumer rights and human well-being oversight Rospotrebnadzor the import of Moldovan alcohol products to Russia has been suspended until the Moldovan side completes a set of measures to ensure the quality and safety of alcohol products.
The website of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry reads that in view of the information and guided by the law on the sanitary and epidemic wellbeing of the nation and the Customs Union agreement on sanitary measures Belarusian Deputy Healthcare Minister, Chief Medical Officer of Belarus Igor Gayevsky has authorized a set of measures to prevent the re-export of Moldovan alcohol products to Russia and to step up control and oversight over the turnover of Moldovan alcohol products, including at the border with Russia.
In line with resolution No. 32 signed by the Chief Medical Officer on 11 September 2013 oblast administrations, the Minsk City Executive Committee, the Interior Ministry, the Trade Ministry, the Belarusian state food industry concern Belgospishcheprom, the Belarusian National Union of Consumer Societies, and the State Standardization Committee are ordered to force corporations that trade in Moldovan alcohol to indicate the prohibition to import the merchandise to the Russian Federation in cargo transportation documents.
Apart from that, chief state health inspectors are supposed to take samples of the merchandise to confirm its conformance with requirements of the legislation of Belarus and the Customs Union. If sanitary and epidemiologic legislation requirements are violated in the trade turnover of Moldovan alcohol products, exhaustive measures specified by the legislation should be taken, reads the resolution issued by the Chief Medical Officer of Belarus.
