Daimler AG has received top marks for disclosure of its climate protection measures aimed at combating climate change, and is being included in the world's most important climate protection indices as part of the organization Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). The company received the maximum 100 points in the "Climate Disclosure Leadership Index" and an "A" rating in the "Climate Performance Leadership Index".

The CDP analysts are therefore acknowledging the company's efforts not only to develop sustainable products, but also to realise an environmentally friendly production and disclose its own environmental goals. Daimler has the declared aim of adopting a pioneering role in climate protection, and has made a major step further forward on the way to achieving this. For example, over the last five years the company has been able to reduce the CO2 emissions of its new passenger car fleet in Europe by more than 20 percent, to 140 g/km. This figure is to decrease even further by 2016 - to 125 g/km. As independent fuel consumption tests have shown, Mercedes-Benz trucks are likewise the benchmark for fuel consumption. Moreover, Daimler is also the trailblazer when it comes to advance compliance with new emission standards. The entire truck portfolio (Actros, Arocs, Antos, Atego, Unimog and Econic) is already available in Euro VI versions today. Two years before the due date, the Mercedes-Benz Actros was able to meet the Euro VI emission standard which will come into force on 1 January 2014. This means that the Actros is in very good company: In the passenger car sector too, taking the example of the petrol models in the new Mercedes-Benz A and B-Class, Daimler is well ahead of its competitors as the benchmark for advance compliance with the Euro 6 standard: the fact that more than 40 percent of all Mercedes-Benz cars registered in the second quarter 2013 in Germany meet the Euro 6 standard speaks for itself.

In terms of its products, the company also attaches great importance to a comprehensive view of environmental characteristics. This is demonstrated by the environmental certificate from TUV Sud, which Mercedes-Benz ensures it achieves for each new vehicle model. This encompasses more than 40,000 individual processes, whose analysis, calculation and assessment produce an extensive eco-profile. The detailed examination includes all environmentally relevant processes, from development to production and use, and ending in recycling. The most recent models analysed in this way include the Mercedes-Benz CLA and the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class in 2013 and in 2012 the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and the E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID as the brand's first diesel hybrid model, which burdens the environment with twelve tonnes less CO2 over its life cycle compared with the E 300 CDI.
