OREANDA-NEWS. September 11-12, 2013 specialists of TGC-1 in conjunction with the Directorate of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Karelia and the administration of Kondopozhsky district conducted large-scale exercises based at Kondopozhskaya HPP and Palieozerskaya HPP. The main goal was to work out the actions of operational staff of power plant, units of MES and executive authorities in the defense of population and territory in an emergency.

For two days, the staff of the cascade demonstrated skills of localization and liquidation of the accident in the autumn-winter period and during the flood. On Kondopozhskaya HPP according to scenario a dam break and flooding a part of the territory of JSC Kondopoga happened. At Palieozerskaya HPP because of a violation of the waterworks the lowland of Girvas village was flooded, including several houses and enterprises.

“We have worked out scenario of the most dangerous accidents close to reality, - said Sergei Petrov, a leading expert of Directorate of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Karelia. - In the course of the exercises, we saw good training. All forces and facilities were well timed and planned. Notification was organized at the appropriate level. Employees of TGC-1 showed good knowledge in emergency situation. All of the tasks performed.”
