OREANDA-NEWS. September 25, 2013. Ukraine will be able to persuade Russia and countries of Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan in the benefits from the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and European Union and creation of the FTA with the EU.
This was started by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko on air of the Shuster Live program on the Inter TV channel during live broadcast from Yalta, which hosted the 10th Annual Meeting (YES).
"Ukraine is confident that it could persuade Russia in the benefits for it from signing the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union," vice Prime Minister said.
He added that Ukraine has talks on this issue with representatives of the Customs Union. And we explain the position of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych that the country is not going to act as a disjunctive force and contrast two directions - the Customs Union and the European Community, but rather wants to create a single economic community and be a unifying force.
"There is a discussion with Russian colleagues about understanding what the association and a free trade area with the European Union and on which position the leadership of Russia and the Customs Union stand. This discussion is not easy and it has been not finished yet, but we explain the position of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and the Government. We show not only the problems that arise, in particular, according to Russian colleagues, but also the benefits that are countries of the Customs Union will have when their partner is the country that has the FTA with the European Union," Yuriy Boyko said.
As an example of the benefits from European integration of Ukraine for Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, he pointed the possibility for products manufactured in the Customs Union to enter the European markets.
"First of all, it is the possibility to enter through Ukraine the EU market, because we have the free trade are with the CIS simultaneously," vice Prime Minister said.
Yuriy Boyko stressed that Ukraine is discussing with the Customs Union at the professional level, and emotional reactions should not affect our negotiation process.
"From time to time we hear emotional expressions, unfortunately they are at the highest level, but we believe that if we show preferences from the FTA with the European Union more aggressively and professionally we will achieve and demonstrate positives and pluses from this association. I also want to remind you that the President of Russia has repeatedly expressed the view that it is necessary to seek for expanding of boundaries and elimination of customs barriers," Yuriy Boyko said.
Vice Prime Minister has recalled that in the situation with a delay of customs clearance of Ukrainian goods Ukraine acted reasonably and professionally.
"Even at the very peak of the conflict on the border, when our manufacturers had problems with the delivery of the goods, we quietly continued dialogue with Russian partners, professionally protected the interests of our producers an in a civilized manner adjusted our position and the vast majority of problems were solved. This was the position of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to prove our case professionally and in the legal field," Yuriy Boyko said.
