OREANDA-NEWS. September 25, 2013. Parents, who in September conclude a money saving contract for their children with SEB Elu- ja Pensionikindlustus, will receive free health insurance for their children for the whole year.

The majority of accidents that happen with children namely occur on the way to school and in gyms, and in the light of the new school year SEB Elu- ja Pensionikindlustus wants to decrease the number of uninsured children in Estonia.

“We wish to draw the attention of parents to the added risks accompanying the beginning of the school year, and increase their awareness about accident insurance. The insurance helps families whose child has got into an accident and whose family budget may face a serious hole because one of the family members has to stay home and take care of the sick child,” said Indrek Holst, Chairman of the Management Board at SEB Elu- ja Pensionikindlustus.

On the national level, children’s health insurance is guaranteed for fourteen consecutive days, and parents can acquire a certificate for care leave that ensures 80 percent of monthly salary for the time spent at home with a sick child. The accident insurance indemnity paid by the insurance company allows the parent to support the treatment of the child or compensate for the salary lost due to the certificate for care leave.

Extra accident cover can be combined with saving for the child’s future. According to the feedback, most parents save money for their children either for university studies or for purchasing their first home. Forty-one per cent of children who are covered with SEB children’s insurance are also protected by the extra accident cover.
