OREANDA-NEWS. Qantas announced additional flights to assist football fans travelling to Melbourne for the AFL Grand Final between the Hawthorn Hawks and the Fremantle Dockers.

Qantas will operate the following additional flights:

Thursday 26 September 2013 QF1260 departing Perth at 2355 and arriving in Melbourne on Friday at 0525

Friday 27 September 2013 QF1262 departing Perth at 0540 and arriving in Melbourne at 1110

Friday 27 September 2013 QF1256 departing Perth at 2345 and arriving in Melbourne on Saturday at 0515

Friday 27 September 2013 QF1260 departing Perth at 2355 and arriving in Melbourne on Saturday at 0525

The additional flights will add another 991 seats from Perth to Melbourne.

Qantas Domestic Chief Executive Officer Lyell Strambi said the additional services would provide more opportunities for football fans to travel to Melbourne for the game.

“It’s been a gripping series and we are excited to provide extra seats to meet fan demand,” Mr Strambi said.

“Fremantle supporters wanting to travel to Melbourne to cheer on the Dockers will be able to purchase seats now at Qantas.com.”

“We will continue to monitor demand throughout the week and assess if further capacity is required.”
