Cherepovets Steel Mill Deliveries to Domestic Market Increase by 7%
OREANDA-NEWS. Cherepovets Steel Mill, one of the world’s largest integrated steel mills and part of the Russian Steel Division of OAO Severstal, one of the world’s leading steel and steel-related mining companies, increased deliveries to the domestic market by 7% year-on-year between January and August 2013.
The Company supplied over 4.4 million tonnes of rolled products to the domestic market for the first eight months of 2013 alone, an increase of 304 thou tonnes from the same period of 2012. Cherepovets Steel Mill’s share of the domestic market rose by 18%, up from 16% over the eight months.
Deliveries were up by 12% — primarily due to increased shipments to Russian construction enterprises and metal trading organizations.
Dmitry Goroshkov, Director for Marketing & Sales at Severstal’s Russian Steel Division commented: “We have ensured growth by broadening our product range and focusing our efforts on the construction industry. The Company has unique production, logistics and service offerings, positioning us to become a principal supplier for our major national infrastructure projects and also to be a provider for small and medium consumers.”
The Company is constantly developing new products for the construction market. Last year, the Company launched ArmaNorma reinforcing bars, a unique, innovative product unrivalled on the market. ArmaNorma’s (А 600) special chemical composition makes it stronger than other reinforcing bars on the market (А400 and А500С), while remaining highly ductile. These unique properties ensure that ArmaNorma is a highly cost-effective construction material.
This year the Company launched “Steel Silk”, a new product for the construction market. The material is a pre-painted galvanized iron, specifically designed for metal tile sheet. The new product was developed with architects and designers, to produce a range of optimum, durable roofing materials for structures in diverse regional climates.
Increased domestic supply was supported by growing demand from the heavy engineering (5%) and automotive (1%) industries..Large-diameter pipe and tubular billet supplies have risen by 2%.
The Central and Southern Federal Districts saw the highest increase in deliveries.
