IMF Mission Headed by Max Alier Arrived in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. September 20, 2013. IMF experts are working in Moldova till October, 1. According to IMF Resident Representative Armine Khachatryan’s statement for the press, the post program monitoring is conducted as Moldova has completed its lending program designed by IMF for our country thorough the Extended Credit Facility and Extended Fund Facility.
As she explained, post-program monitoring is conducted in all member states that have substantial IMF credit outstanding following the expiration of their programs. The enhanced monitoring is intended to ensure the continued viability of a country’s economic framework and provide early warning of policies that could jeopardize the country’s external viability. If necessary, IMF experts consult authorities on policy actions to correct macroeconomic imbalances.
The Three-Year Arrangement approved by IMF for Moldova on January, 29 and expired late April, 2013, provided backing at a total of 369.6 million Special Drawing Rights (SDR) or USD574.4 million of which Moldova was allotted to SDR 320 million or USD 490 million. The last tranche was not disbursed because Moldova had failed to meet some of its obligations and the last review of the program was not completed.
