OREANDA-NEWS. September 19, 2013. In the course of a visit to Turkey Minister of Health of Ukraine Rayisa Bohatyryova has participated in signing an agreement with the Global Fund.

In the frames of participation in the sixty-third session of European regional committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) taking place in Turkey, Rayisa Bohatyryova met with Special Representative of the WHO Regional Director on multidrug resistant diseases and tuberculosis Hans Kluge and portfolio manager of Ukrainian Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria, Nikola Canto.

During the event the interlocutors discussed issues of cooperation development in the area of TB fight in Ukraine, first of all concerning the need to introduce reforms in organization of inpatient and outpatient TB treatment.

On the results of the negotiations a significant for Ukraine documents has been inked – Grant agreement for Phase 2, Round 9 of the Grant of the Global Fund, the TB component. Realization of this Agreement by Ukraine envisages drawing funds which are to be directed to rendering complex services to TB patients, broadening of treatment opportunities, monitoring and evaluation of measures directed to overcoming the disease, facilitating development of cadre potential of TB services. Responsibility for further effective usage of fund of the grant was assumed by the state, strengthening state leadership in TB counteraction.

From the Ukrainian side the Agreement was signed by Professor Nataliya Nizova – director of Ukrainian Center of control over socially dangerous diseases of the Health Ministry of Ukraine – an institution that assumed responsibilities of the principal recipient of the Grant from the Foundation for Development of Ukraine.
