Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO Announced New Dean
OREANDA-NEWS. The Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO has completed the selection of a new Dean. According to the contest results Andrei Sharonov has been appointed to the position.
Prior to the appointment Mr. Sharonov has been acting Deputy Mayor of Moscow for economic issues, headed the Economic policy and city development complex in the Moscow government. Andrei Sharonov will continue interacting with the Moscow Government as external advisor.
The closed contest for the position of the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO's Dean was announced in December 2012. A committee on the dean selection including Founding partners, the school's management, faculty and graduates has been formed. Initially there were 25 candidates on the list. In the end of the first stage the short list was presented to the SKOLKOVO business school's Coordination Council. The second stage of the contest that was running in summer 2013 included final interviews with three candidates. The new Dean has been selected for a 5 year term.

In the nearest future representatives of the Russian regions and the CIS countries will be seen among listeners of the programmes and school's partners”, Andrei Sharonov said.
Andrei Volkov, who has been Dean of the business school from the moment of its foundation, will continue working at the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO as a professor and supervisor for corporate programmes and SKOLKOVO Education Development Centre.
Andrei Sharonov was born in Ufa, graduated from Ufa State Aircraft Institute and Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation. In the 1990s he was Chairman of the State Committee of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic for youth policy, headed the Committee for youth issues of the Russian Federation. In 1996 he started his work in the Ministry of Economy of the Russian Federation, where he has been working till 2007 as First Deputy Minister. In 2007 he started his activity in the private sector as Managing Director and Chairman of Board at Troika Dialog.
In 2010 Andrei Sharonov was appointed Deputy Mayor of Moscow for economic issues. He has been in charge of formation and expense of budgetary funds, industrial and economic policy as well as of government purchase, trade and services sector. He was Chairman of the Regional Energy Committee, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Moscow Urban Forum. In 2012 he became a prize-winner of the “Person of the year 2012” award in the nomination “Business reputation”.
