Belarus Tightens Screws on Quality Control of Meat, Dairy Products
OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus has introduced tough quality requirements for meat and dairy products following a series of complaints made by Russia's consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor, the Health Ministry of Belarus said in a statement.
Chief of Russia's consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor, Gennady Onishchenko, has given Belarus one week to sort out issues with the quality of dairy products.
Rospotrebnadzor still has complaints about the quality of dairy products allegedly imported from Belarus, Onishchenko said last week. Of 240 samples of dairy products tested, 30% did not meet quality standards and food security regulations, the consumer rights official said.
Belarus has introduced laboratory control for each batch of products released in a bid to discourage Russia from banning Belarusian-made food products.
