Belarus Reports 0.1% Inflation Growth in Aug 2013, 8.2% in Jan-Aug
OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus was there to witness a 0.1% inflation growth in August 2013, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a press-release.
In January-August consumer prices have grown 8.2%, Belstat informed.
Food prices reduced 1% in August (up 2.5% in Jan-Aug).
The price of the following food products went down in August: potatoes - down 28.1% (down 89.4% since early 2013), vegetables - down 20% (down 18.4%), fruits - down 5.7% (up 1.4%), tea - down 1% (up 4.1%).
The price of the following food products went up in August: eggs - up 2.3% (up 7%), pasta - up 2% (up 11%), cereals - up 1% (up 2.8%), flour - up 3.3% (up 13.7%), bread - up 2% (up 7.2%), tobaccos - up 1.4% (up 55.2%).
Non-food prices grew 0.6% on the month in August 2013 (up 3.5% from the level of December 2013).
Prices of bicycles and motorbikes grew 1.5% on the month in August (up 7.5% the level of December 2013), footwear - up 1.4% (up 2.3%), medications - up 0.6% (up 7.7%), detergents - up 0.6% (up 6.4%), clothing - up 0.6% (up 1.2%), construction materials - up 0.5% (up 4.7%), consumer electronics- up 0.4% (up 2.2%).
Utility tariffs grew 1.1% on the month in August 2013 (19.2% in Jan-Aug).
Tariffs on household services grew 2% on the month in August 2013 (up 18.6% in Jan-Aug). Passenger tariffs grew 2.2% on the month (up 19.1% in Jan-Aug), medical services - up 0.4% (up 19.9%).
Belarus' government expects inflation growth to stay under 12% in 2013. Belarus' consumer prices grew 21.8% in 2012, while the government's forecast stood at 19-22%.
