OREANDA-NEWS. September 18, 2013. For the first time this event is held by the wine industry associations - Association of wine producers and exporters of Moldova and the Moldovan Guild of Winemakers.

The organization of this event will be also supported by USAID / CEED II project and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. During the last Monday's press conference, the Chairman of the Committee for organizing the National Day of Wine Eugen Pislaru has informed that the budget of celebration amounts to about 1.2 million lei.

He also said that wine-making associations have developed a new concept of celebration and to "return" it to the main square of the country. Eugen Pislaru noted that the winemakers offer that the National Wine Day shall promote the culture of winemaking and moderate consumption of wine in Moldova. According to him, the National Day of Wine will be held under the slogan "Respect for tradition, courage in innovations." The producers will divide territory of the central square on regional affiliation.

The master classes in wine tasting will be held in two specially allocated areas. Special attention will be paid to such celebration elements of the national culture as: clothes, shoes, accessories, ethnic cuisine, etc. Eugen Pislaru noted that to promote the National Day of wine, wine associations are closely cooperating with the tourist agencies.

To attract tourists , the special tours , covering the period of 10 days before and after the holiday, in which foreign visitors will be acquainted with "Wine Route", Moldovan wineries , etc. were developed.

The CEED II project manager Diana Lazar has informed that since December 2012 USAID supports Moldovan wine sector. In particular, marketing strategies to promote the national brand Wine Moldova are developed, as well as the activities to promote a culture of wine consumption inside the country (" Opening day of wine ") are held.

She also informed that as a part of the National Day of Wine, CEED II organizes the trip for a group of Moldovan and foreign bloggers and journalists across the "Wine Route ".
