Russia Will Not Discontinue Any Trade Agreement with Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. September 18, 2013. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov has expressed hope that Russia will not stop any agreements with Ukraine on mutual trade.
He expressed this thought the Shuster Live program answering questions about statements by some officials of Russia about the possible termination of supply contracts with Ukraine.
"Russia has not declared officially at the highest level on termination specific agreements on bilateral trade yet and any provision for mutual trade has been not stopped. And we expect that this would not be," Mykola Azarov said.
In this context, he noted that contacts at the highest level with the Russian Federation had recently been intensified, and both sides expressed the view that no Ukrainian-Russian "trade war" are not possible in principle. "These incidents that have been at customs are resolved," the Prime Minister declared.
Common sense dictates, Mykola Azarov said, that Ukraine and Russia should work together. In this context, he stressed again that the agreement that Ukraine intends to sign with the EU on free trade can not affect on our plan to expand cooperation with the Customs Union. And, according to him, this view is also shared by representatives of the European Union.
