Kyiv to Host Ukrainian-Dutch Agrarian Business Forum
OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2013. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov and representatives of agrarian business have agreed to stir up bipartite cooperation. In particular, it will be contributed by holding of a joint business forum in Kyiv.
“We have agreed to hold in Kyiv a joint business forum with participation of leading agrarian companies from the Netherlands and Ukraine. Elaborated during the business forum concrete propositions and projects on the development of olericulture, dairy cattle breeding and a series of other directions joined with processing of products of agrarian sector can be realized on the territory of Ukraine,” Mykola Azarov told.
The Prime Minister underlined that partnership in training specialists for the agricultural branch appears perspective. He added that the Netherlands possesses good scientific and educational bases and are ready to share the experience. Ukraine has consented to the suggestions.
According to Mykola Azarov, a respective Agreement will be signed in the nearest time.
Another perspective direction is cooperation between Ukrainian and Dutch companies in seed production. At this he set an example that in Ukraine an average yield of potatoes makes up around 160 hundreds kilograms per hectare, while in the Netherlands – 500 hundreds kilograms per hectare.
“We have enormous opportunities to reduce production costs and develop highly technological schemes. That’s why we have agreed concerning such partnership”.
The Head of Government reminded that the Netherlands takes the second place in export of agricultural products.
“It proves an extremely high level of agriculture development. Taking into account the existing in Ukraine areas, the climate our cooperation with the Netherlands is very promising for us. Yesterday I said in jest to the Minister: if we join our efforts, we will take the lead in the world. The Netherlands are dreaming to outpace the United States of America in agriculture export. And they will make it scarcely without us, but they will [make it] with us,” Mykola Azarov opined.
