OREANDA-NEWS. Siemens and Russian Machines present their first joint design study at the Fourth International Rail Salon of Engineering and Technologies EXPO 1520. The new-generation vehicle was developed especially for Metro Moscow. The Russian capital announced its intention to procure up to 3,000 new metro cars until 2020. The tender is expected to be issued by the end of 2013.

Siemens and Russian Machines intend to cooperate for the Metro Moscow tender and plan to set up a joint venture in the Moscow region.

The new Siemens-RM metro mockup, presented at Expo 1520, demonstrates a radically new urban transport philosophy. In this vehicle, futuristic esthetics are combined with maximum concern for passenger convenience. The metro car concept combines high travelling comfort with reduced noise, less vibration, air conditioning and increased passenger capacity as well as improved passenger safety. Compared to the vehicles currently in operation in Moscow, it reduces both energy consumption and maintenance costs.
