OREANDA-NEWS. September 12, 2013. Members of the Constitutional Court made such a decision after being requested to check whether the above resolution, adopted on May, 30, 2013, is valid.

The decision was taken to avoid inevitable damage to, and negative consequences for, economic and financial security of the state until the judges give substantive consideration to the case and deliver a final verdict. International Chisinau Airport was conceded to Russian consortium Avia Invest for 49 years. Avia Invest has committed to invest EUR 244.2 million in its development, InfoMarket reported earlier.

The consortium, including UK Komaks, Khabarovsk Airport SA, Kolomensky Plant SA and Avia Invest LLc, won a closed tender for the concession. However, the group of Liberal-Democrats headed by Ion Hadirca disputed the results of the tender in court.

As they note, the resolution approving the concession of assets of state-owned enterprise International Chisinau Airport and terms of the concession under the private-and-public partnership had been adopted by the released government and the latter was not entitled to take such decisions due to its restricted powers. Besides, the tender for the concession of International Chisinau Airport was not held transparently, they state.
