VSW Production Management System Confirmed Complies with EU Standards
OREANDA-NEWS. Vyksa Steel Works (VSW, Nizhny Novgorod region, a OMK company, Moscow) has confirmed the compliance of its railway wheel type VA004, VA005, 409 and 428 production processes with European technical specifications for interoperability.
VSW was audited by Vyzkumny Ustav Zeleznicni (VUZ, Czech Republic, a European railway certification authority). VUZ auditors inspected the railway wheel mill, metrology unit, central plant laboratory and corporate center of research facilities. They paid special attention to the compliance of the inspected railway wheel design development and drawings with TSI requirements for dimensions, modelling of railway products and metallurgical processes. Based on the audit, VUZ inspectors set up a full correspondence of the VSW wheel production to the European TSI requirements.
VSW has one of the largest solid wheel production facilities in the world, capable of producing 850,000 units per year. In 2008, the company received a TSI compliance certificate for the first time in its history. This certificate allows the United Metallurgical Company to export VSW wheel products to EU countries and successfully develop new outlets and new products in compliance with the most stringent requirements of the clients for their quality.
TSI are technical specifications for interoperability (technical and operational compatibility), which have been binding upon railway technics, equipment, systems and rolling stock in the EU countries since 2001.
