OREANDA-NEWS. September 11, 2013. Vice Director-General Zhang Xiaoqiang of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) led a delegation and visited Pakistan.

The visit purpose is to inspect the relevant work of Pakistan Haier-Ruba Economic Zone and host the working conference. Ambassador Sun Weidong of Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and several representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises in Pakistan attended the meeting. Upon invitation, Xu Qiuming, General Manager of MCC Ruba International Construction Co., Ltd. of China First Metallurgical Construction Group (CFMCC Group) & Vice Manager of CFMCC Group’s Overseas Company participated in this conference and delivered a speech as a representative of Chinese-funded enterprises.

The topic of the conference was focused upon the construction of Sino-Pakistani Special Economic Zone. Vice Director-General Zhang Xiaoqiang of NDRC made a remark on the Sino-Pakistani economic development situation, political environment and market potentials. Zhang stated that, Pakistan Haier-Ruba Economic Zone was among the first batch of China’s Overseas Economic & Trade Cooperation Zones approved by the Ministry of Commerce, marking a key milestone for the economic collaboration between Pakistan and China. At present, Pakistan enjoys a stable political environment and a promising prospect in terms of the economic cooperation between both countries. After the conference, Zhang held discussions on several projects with the relevant officials of Punjab Province. He believed that, the Sino-Pakistani economy would witness further development on a basis of harmony and stability. At the meantime, Zhang also expected more and more Chinese-funded enterprises to take part in the construction of Sino-Pakistani Special Economic Zone.

MCC Ruba International Construction Co., Ltd. is one of the holding subsidiaries of China First Metallurgical Construction Group (CFMCC Group), and is jointly invested by CFMCC Group and Ruba Group of Pakistan, with an aim for further exploration of Pakistani market. During the past six years, both parties conducted smooth cooperation and the localized management mode was successfully applied in the construction of overseas projects. In this view, this company has been regarded as a good example for Sino-Pakistani economic cooperation and the perfect symbol of Sino-Pakistani friendship.

The representative of CFMCC Group stated at the meeting that, both parties would continue to work together, and adopt a diversified development strategy towards real estate and international trade basing upon the current overseas project construction business. By these means, CFMCC Group wishes to make greater contribution to the sustainable economic development in both countries, as well as the construction of Sino-Pakistani Economic Corridor and Sino-Pakistani Special Economic Zone in a manner of mutual benefit.

Sino-Pakistan Special Economic Zone, namely Pakistan Haier-Ruba Economic Zone, is located in Lahore, the second largest city of Pakistan. It’s not only the first China’s Overseas Economic & Trade Cooperation Zones approved by the Ministry of Commerce, but also the most important economic zone approved by Pakistan government.
