Norilsk Nickel Polar Division Received 10 All Terrain Vehicles
OREANDA-NEWS. September 11, 2013. CHETRA TM-140 ATVs were purchased for Norilsk-Taimyr Energy Company (OJSC NTEK), a Norilsk Nickel affiliate supplying energy, heat and water to five cities, two settlements and all enterprises located in Norilsk Industrial Area.
The Kurganmashzavod-made vehicles were delivered by sea through Dudinka port.
CHETRA TM-140 is one of the world's finest all-terrain vehicles in terms of cross-country capabilities. The winch-equipped vehicle easily conquers even soils with low bearing capacity. A tracked ATV carrying loads of up to 4 tons, is able to traverse swamp, areas and permafrost. Cruising range with extra fuel tanks allows to cover a distance of up to 800 kilometers with no refueling.
Vehicles meet high environmental requirements for the conservation of the unique natural landscape of the Arctic region. With a track pressure of just 0.2 kg/cm?, no harm is done to the tundra landscape.
The vehicles are modular, which allows repurposing. The current shipment of ATVs has five cargo units, three workshop-equipped vehicles and ATVs with a living compartment.
According to Deputy Director of OJSC NTEC Natalia Chemodanova “the new all-terrain vehicles are universal. The ones that are equipped with a living compartment will allow for missions of 10 days or longer. People will not only reach their destination with no hassle, but will be able to really relax and eat”.
ATVs are outfitted with a platform similar to a hauling vehicle with repair and welding tools onboard, which allows for efficient power line servicing.
The ATVs will be driven exclusively by professionals, each OJSC NTEK driver has received a 6th grade qualification.
The vehicles were purchased within the scope of OJSC NTEK motor pool renewal program covering GT-T1, TM-130 and TTM-3902 vehicles. The program cost is close to RUB 100 million.
