OJSC KAMAZ Shows New Model Range
OREANDA-NEWS. KAMAZ’s exposition at the 12th International Specialized Exhibition of Commercial Vehicles-2013 (COMTRANS-2013) held on 10-14 September 2013 will be one of the largest ones by the number of exhibited models of vehicles built both at the automobile plant and its subsidiaries, and in close collaboration with manufacturers of special equipment.
The highlight of KAMAZ’s exposition this year will be trucks of the new model range made with components by Daimler, namely the KAMAZ-5490 long-haul tractor, the KAMAZ-65206 and KAMAZ-65207 dump trucks, the KAMAZ-65802 prime mover and the KAMAZ-5308 medium-duty truck, which are expected to replace currently produced vehicles in the next three or four years.
The KAMAZ-5490 long-haul tractor is a significant technological breakthrough of KAMAZ in production of vehicles for commercial cargo transportation. The distinguishing feature of the new long-haul tractor is a cab based on the Mercedes-Benz Axor cab. The heart of the tractor is German for the present: a Mercedes-Benz OM457LA straight-six engine generating 428 hp and complying with Euro 5 emission standards is used as a power unit. Later the company plans to replace it by a power unit of its own manufacture. The transmission of the vehicle uses a ZF 16S 2221 16-speed gearbox. Disk brakes, EBS, ESP and ECAS systems improve driver comfort.
Besides enhanced comfort, safety and attractive design, KAMAZ-5490 features the Intel® Atom™ infotainment system. The hardware and software solution specially designed for the Russian market includes such functions as navigation with up-to-date information about a load on transport networks, radio, media player, telephone application, calendar, browser, application for easy communication in social networks, as well as voice control and integration with infrastructure services.
The visitors of KAMAZ’s stand will surely be interested in the company`s NGVs running on compressed natural gas – methane, which will hopefully improve the environment in big Russian cities and megalopolises. Gas power units currently installed on KAMAZ trucks meet Euro 4 emission standards. The CNG exhibits are the KAMAZ-6520 dump truck, the KAMAZ-65116 bolster-type tractor with an LNG storage tank, the KAMAZ-53605 garbage truck and the KAMAZ-65117 grain carrier.
The company demonstrates lines and models of commercial KAMAZ vehicles. These are KAMAZ-65115, 65111, 65201, 53605, 43118 dump trucks, mobile cranes on KAMAZ-63501 and KAMAZ-65115 chassis, 58147G and 58149W concrete mixers on KAMAZ-65115 and KAMAZ-6520 chassis, as well as crew buses, container carriers, vehicles with vans to transport manufactured goods, with loader cranes and multipurpose road maintenance vehicles. All vehicles are equipped with restyled cabs, KAMAZ and Cummins engines. They are designed with the use of components by the world’s best manufacturers. In addition, the exhibition will show advanced developments of Neftekamsk Automobile Plant, a subsidiary of OJSC KAMAZ, including an upgraded NEFAZ-5299 intercity bus, several NEFAZ-5299 low-entry buses with gas and diesel engines, as well as a Bravis bus made by KAMAZ-Marco JV.
The COMTRANS-2013 exhibition is of great importance to all automakers producing and selling commercial vehicles in Russia. To date, KAMAZ produces a wide range of large and medium trucks. The company’s high research and production potential is reflected in over 1,500 versions of more than 40 production models of trucks. In addition, the company manufactures trailers, buses, agricultural equipment, diesel and natural gas engines and power units, tools and accessories.
KAMAZ’s experts thoroughly monitor the needs of the Russian market of commercial vehicles developing new models of equipment and continuously modernizing the existing model range in order to improve performance of the company’s vehicles.
