Ukraine Plans to Decrease Negative Foreign Trade Balance with China
OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2013. Ukraine has intended to increase export volumes of goods and services in particular including high-tech to the Chinese market and thereby reduce the negative foreign trade balance with China.
This was stated by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov at a meeting with a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee of China Liu Yunshan in Kyiv.
"Last year our turnover exceeded 10 billion dollars. Our trade and economic relations have a negative balance of trade in favor of China. Chinese imports exceed our exports by about \\$ 2.5 billion. We need to think together how to align the trade balance in our trade," the Prime Minister said.
He invited the Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China to visit Ukraine on an official visit, during which to negotiate on correcting the situation.
At the same time Mykola Azarov noted that the dynamic development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries facilitates the activities of the Intergovernmental Cooperation Commission, which was established in April 2011 during his official visit to China. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that its second meeting to be held in late September in Beijing, chaired by Vice Prime Ministers of the two countries will provide a way out strategic partnership to a new level.
Prime Minister stressed that Ukraine has sent to the Chinese side two documents: Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation between Ukraine and China, and the Program of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and China for 2013-2017.
Liu Yunshan noted that bilateral trade between the countries exceeded USD 10 billion, and there is every reason to increase it.
He said that over the next five years, China was going to export goods in the amount of 10 trillion dollars.
"Exports of high technology products from Ukraine to China would be a good lever for reducing the negative balance," the representative of China said.
