OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2013. Two ultramodern kindergartens built at the expense of Norilsk Nickel are ready and waiting for kids. Named UMKA and NORILTCHONOK, these preschool establishments house three hundreds kids – twelve 25 children teams. Thus, all the kids of Norilsk born in 2009-2010 may go to kindergartens. 

In the kindergartens, small citizens of Norilsk will enjoy the most comfortable commodities i.e. heated flooring in the dormitories and in the swimming pool zone, inlet-exhaust filters ventilation system, which excludes additional heating. 

Vadim Istomin, acting director of social projects block of Norilsk Nickel Polar division  notes that Norilsk never saw kindergartens of the type. Quote Kids will have sporting, musical and choreographic facilities, there is a gym, swimming pools, radiation therapy cabinet, winter garden and theatre stage. Each kindergarten has two winter promenades Unquote.

74 teachers and tutors will educate and take care of the children.

The preschool establishments were built in line with the quadrilateral agreement  between Norilsk Nickel, Regions Ministry of Russian Federation, Krasnoyarsk region government and Norilsk administration. The agreement was signed in August, 2010, during Vladimir Putin visit to Norilsk.

The total cost of the two kindergarten construction amounted to RUB 1,2 billion.
