FPC to Begin Using Double-Decker Carriages on Adler - Moscow Service
OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2013. In September 2013, passengers will be able to buy tickets for the new Federal Passenger Company's double-decker train. The first Adler - Moscow run using the double-decker train will be on 1 November 2013, several months before the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi commence.
The Federal Passenger Company will offer special fares for passengers on the double-decker carriages. The fare when travelling in a compartment will be 20-30 % lower than that in single-decker trains running on the same route.
Dynamic pricing is used on the Moscow - Adler - Moscow route, according to which on the first day of sales, the passenger will be offered the lowest possible fare, taking into account the level of demand and seasonality - thereafter, the rate will be increased depending on the capacity utilisation of the train, demand, forecasts and other factors.
The minimum fare when travelling in a compartment on the upper floor in a double-decker carriage will be 4,154 roubles. This compares with the minimum fare of 5,090 roubles when travelling in single-decker trains on the same route.
In the period from 30 August to 9 September 2013, a series of presentations of the double-decker train will be made in Russia's largest cities along the train's route to people living in the country's regions: Ryazan, Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar and Sochi.
A presentation of the double-decker rolling stock opened a ceremony on 30 August 2013 at Moscow's Kiev station, when the first double-decker passenger train was opened to visitors.
