OREANDA-NEWS. A Collaboration Agreement between NPO Saturn acting as coordinator of the Yaroslavl region’s “Gas turbine engineering and power machine building” cluster and the economic associations of Saxony in the field of aviation and space (ASIS - AeroSpace Initiative Saxony) and machine building (VEMAS) was signed at the MAKS-2013.

An agreement on mutually profitable collaboration between NPO Saturn acting as coordinator of the Yaroslavl region’s “Gas turbine engineering and power machine building” cluster and the economic associations of Saxony in the field of aviation and space (ASIS - AeroSpace Initiative Saxony) and machine building (VEMAS) was signed at the MAKS-2013 International aviation and space salon held in Zhukovsky.

Through the Agreement the co-signatories have agreed to collaborate with regard to transfer of breakthrough technologies allowing to boost the production excellence.

In the frame of inter-cluster collaboration Rybinsk will host the first technological forum, co-organized by the research and development institutions and companies from Saxony and NPO Saturn who have already excelled in organizing such events. The representatives of science and production from diverse Saxony companies will have a chance to get familiarized with the tasks solved collectively by the “Gas turbine engineering and power machine building” cluster and individually by NPO Saturn and other companies. The format of inter-cluster collaboration will allow to quickly secure a wide range of potential partners.

Ilya Fedorov, NPO Saturn chief executive officer and cluster chairman noted as follows, “we expect the parties of the Agreement to come up with state-of-the-art technical and technological solutions, new partner relationships including, among others, partnerships with the small-to-medium businesses in the development of outsourcing. The Agreement allows the stakeholders to enter into a multi-faceted collaboration mode in the field of science as well. The leading institutes of Saxony have accumulated a significant R&D backlog of knowledge in the fields of development which we find interesting. We will be looking for new formats of interaction within the territorial cluster and among its member scientific institutions; we will also be looking for new points of touch for engineering new innovative products”.

The present Agreement in the frame of the “Gas turbine engineering and power machine building” innovation territorial cluster is set to solve the most topical issues posed to NPO Saturn and other companies in the cluster with relation to breakthrough solutions concerning the companies’ industrialization, production process optimization and their power efficiency; collaboration between the R&D institutions and industrial enterprises working on the development of new products and continuous improvement of the applied production processes, training and personnel qualification upgrade.

NPO Saturn Research and Production Association (OJSC) is an engine-building company specialized in the design and development, production and after-market support of gas turbine engines for military and civil aviation, Navy boats and power-generating plants and gas-pumping units. NPO Saturn is part of United Engine Corporation.
