OREANDA-NEWS. September 05, 2013. EBRD is ready to provide Draexlmaier Group, a German company, with a loan of up to EUR 65 million to expand the company’s production in Moldova and some other countries.

In particular, EBRD officials are considering a possibility to extend the loan for Draexlmaier Group to extend its manufacturing capacities in Romania, Moldova, Serbia and Tunisia and to finance the launch of its manufacture in Macedonia, InfoMarket was said in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Resident Office in Moldova. By estimates, the total cost of all these projects is EUR 164 million.

The matter of extending the loan to Draexlmaier Group is going to be considered by the Board of Directors of EBRD at their sitting to be held on October, 1, 2013. Draexlmaier is a company producing car spares and electric equipment. It entered the market of Moldova in 2006 as a resident of FEZ Balti. In 2012, the company topped the list of major exporters of Moldova. At present, there are two Draexlmaier’s plants in Balti. They have been invested in more than EUR 15 million and helped to create 2,700 jobs. In 2012 the company was going to open one more plant in our country to produce machine building items.

But tax problems the company had experienced impelled leaders of the concern to declare they may give up the idea of having the plant constructed in FEZ of Balti and, instead, construct it in Romania. Later, all the issues were solved. However, when meeting Moldova’s Economy Minister Valeriu Lazar recently, representatives of Dra Draexlmaier Automotive were concerned that the conflict would surface again since the Tax Code, as before, allows ambiguous interpretation.

Valeriu Lazar assured the investor that the conflict would not arise this year. Draexlmaier Group – is a world-leading source for motor car industry. The company develops, manufactures and sells electrical equipment and internal systems which are bought by leading car producers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Porsche. It has 61 plants and gives jobs to 48,000 employees in 23 countries worldwide.
