OREANDA-NEWS. September 03, 2013. In Ukraine IT market is rather young, but it is developing at a fast pace. Information technologies is the only industry which over recent years has demonstrated general growth at the level of 40%. It is joined not only with opportunities of Ukraine but with overall conjuncture of the world market.

But, at this Ukraine is experiencing the lack of IT specialists, according to the head of State Agency for Science, Innovation and Informatization Volodymyr Semynozhenko. On the data of Exploring Ukraine IT Outsourcing Industry 2012, Ukrainian higher educational institutions annually produce approximately 16 thousand specialists in IT technologies area, but only 4-5 thousand out of this number are employed.

It should be noted that in the end of 2012 overall amount of IT specialists in Ukraine made up more than 215 thousand persons and around 25 thousand persons are certified programmers working for export.

It is expected that in 2015 the amount of workplaces in IT industry will reach 168.5 thousand with 106 thousand persons in IT export and 62.5 – on the domestic market. Overall in IT area 350 thousand specialists will be involved in Ukraine while growth of the branch will make up USD 5 bln in 2015. On the estimations of the World Bank Ukraine can transfer to the 6 place in the world in IT export amounts till 2015. The internal segment will also grow but at a bit lower pace – 5-10% annually.

V.Semynozhenko stressed the Government takes measures directed to significant improvement of quality and quantity of IT specialists who graduate from higher educational institutions of Ukraine. It concerns support of IT area, simplifying of making business, taxation and training specialists. In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers has increased twofold the volumes of state order for training students for highly technological economy branches.

Moreover, the head of State Agency for Science, Innovation and Informatization reminded the draft law had been registered in the Parliament that enables to stir up the development of national IT enterprises. Apart from that, a program on IT branch development is being elaborated and will be presented within nearest time already.
