Grodno Azot Reports 2.9-Fold Increase in Nitrogen Fertilizer Exports
OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus' chemical company OAO Grodno Azot exported USD 61.98 million worth of nitrogen fertilizers in January-June 2013, up 2.9 times year on year, a source in the profile ministry told.
The situation on overseas markets has significantly improved for OAO Grodno Azot.
Grodno Azot exported 71,180 tonnes of nitrogen fertilizers (in terms of 100% nitrogen) to overseas markets in Jan-June 2013, up 2.6 times on the year.
The average export price stood at USD 870 per tonne in Jan-Jun 2013 to compare with USD 803 per tonne in Jan-Jun 2012.
Grodno Azot exported 235,300 tonnes (worth USD 195.8 million) of nitrogen fertilizers (in terms of 100% nitrogen) to overseas markets in Jan-Dec 2012, down 27.2% on the year. In 2011 Grodno Azot exported 323,000 tonnes of nitrogen fertilizers worth USD 303.8 million. The average export price stood at USD 832 per tonne in 2012 and USD 939.7 in 2011.
Grodno Azot was set up in 1963 and transformed into an open joint-stock company in 2002. The Belarusian government holds a 99.97% stake. The annual capacity is estimated at 305,000 tonnes of sulphuric acid, 645,700 tonnes of nitrogen fertilizers, 111,200 tonnes of caprolactam and 55,400 tonnes of methanol.
Grodno Azot is the main producer of liquid ammonia, nitrogen fertilizers, methanol, caprolactam, biodiesel fuel.
