OREANDA-NEWS. As residents of Hefei, the capital of East China's Anhui province, are eligible to travel to Taiwan as individual tourists, flights from the inland city to Kaohsiung will be added, local media reported on Monday.

There are flights from Hefei to Taipei on a daily basis, while no direct ones to Kaohsiung are available until every Wednesday.

On August 28, the inland city opened individual travel to Taiwan, which would bring about increasing connection and exchanges among local people and add a new urgency to the rise of flights between them, said Anhui Business Daily, citing the Municipal Bureau of Tourism of Hefei.

"The Anhui Civil Aviation Airport Group Co.is negotiating with Taiwan Far Eastern Air Transport Co.for an additional flight from Hefei to Kaohsiung," according to the bureau.

In addition, Xinqiao Airport, the city's main airport, will extend the departure lounge for passengers bound for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

Meanwhile, a promo video featuring 4A and 5A scenic spots in Hefei is slated to be played in a continuous loop at the airport, which has already been outfitted with a variety of racks and light boxes presenting the charm of the city. Xinqiao will emerge as a major platform to promote local tourism, the report said.
