Iran Will Pump Gas to Oman within Two Years
OREANDA-NEWS. Zanganeh said that under a gas deal he signed with Oman Minister of Oil and Gas Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy in Tehran, the Islamic Republic will be delivering gas to the Persian Gulf sultanate for 25 years.
Construction of the pipeline will commence once feasibility studies on the subsea pipeline have been finalized, he added.
Zanganeh noted that talks have been held with the Omani side regarding the investment needed for the major gas project.
“Everything is transparent and crystal clear in this regard, and we can immediately enter the construction phase of the project especially since Iranian President,Hassan Rouhani and Omani monarch, Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said have laid special emphasis on the swift completion of the pipeline project,” he pointed out.
The Iranian oil minister described the gas agreement between Iran and Oman as the biggest trade deal ever reached between the two countries, noting that the agreement will prepare the grounds for further enhancement of friendly relations between Tehran and Muscat.
On Monday night, Iran and Oman signed an agreement on the export of Iranian gas to the Persian Gulf state. The deal was signed between Zanganeh and Omani Minister of Oil and Gas Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy in Tehran.
